The ancestor of the Stillwater Milling Company was the Thomas and Plummer Perfection Mills, established in 1891 to make wheat flour and corn meal for home baking. In 1906, Stillwater Mill and Elevator Company was incorporated by the Babcock family to produce flour under the name "Stillwater's Best Flour. In 1918, Andy Goodholm purchased the company and added a line of home flour products called "Good Home Flour. The mill did well, and was expanded to produce A & M livestock feeds, named after Andy and his wife Mandy. In 1933, the mill was purchased by Haskell Cudd, Paul Wise and James Berry. The Berry family sold their interest after the death of James Berry. For over forty years after purchasing the Berry stock, the Cudd and Wise families owned the mill. In 2010, the Wise family purchased the Cudd interests and became the majority owners. Several mill employees also own stock. Haskell Cudd was the CEO of the mill from 1938 until he retired in 2005 at the age of 98 years. In those decades, he created the largest and most modern feed mill in Oklahoma, always emphasizing reliable delivery of high quality feed at the lowest achievable price consistent with high quality ingredients. In this way, the mill has improved the profitability of ranches all over the state. These policies have continued to the present and will continue in the future, for profitable ranches are our future also. Home baking began to decline in the 1950's, so in 1957 flour production was discontinued. The mill concentrated on multiple lines of animal feeds, especially cattle cubes and also on grain purchasing and handling, expanding its operations all over Oklahoma and into the adjoining states. The mill's first Agri-Center was opened in Stillwater in 1975, followed by similar Agri-Centers in Davis, Claremore and Perry. These are large, comprehensive farm and home complexes with multiple buildings, offering not only bulk and bagged A & M feeds but also feed components such as wheat midds, fertilizer and fertilizer spreading, fencing and similar materials, feed and watering troughs, livestock handling equipment, animal medicines including injectables, clothing, boots, tools, gardening seeds and supplies, and about everything else needed for the farm and ranch. In Davis, they even have Brighton jewelry and purses! Stillwater Milling Company buys grain at all our locations. Wheat is the largest cash crop, but we also buy corn, soybeans and milo. Our combined elevator capacity is over one million bushels. In our feed plant, we have three 300 horsepower Landers pellet mills, each capable of producing 25 tons of cattle cubes per hour. We also have 3 smaller pellet mills to produce other feeds for horses, goats, hogs, rabbits, chickens and other farm animals. We also have a sweet feed plant which can make up to 300 tons per day of textured feed. Our production capacity is up to 2100 tons per day on a 2-shift day. We are one of the few feed plants in Oklahoma licensed to produce medicated feeds. Pam Moore, our animal nutritionist, formulates a wide range of feeds for almost any requirement. For special needs, our highly computerized mill can produce almost any custom feed, with a minimum amount of five tons.
